COLUMBIA, S.C., Feb. 14, 2006 -
Primesouth, the power plant management business based in
Columbia, S.C. has
signed a three-year contract with Associated
Electric Cooperative Inc. to operate and maintain a
new power plant under construction in Dell, Ark.
Primesouth will employ 19 at the natural gas fired,
combined cycle, electric generating plant, which
will have a capacity of 590 MW. The design includes
two combustion turbines with individual capacities
of 175 MW and a steam turbine with a 240-MW
capacity. The Dell Power Project is expected to go
into commercial operation late spring 2007.
Primesouth is an independent, non-regulated full
service energy services contractor. Primesouth
currently operates and maintains facilities for
Rochester Gas & Electric in New York; the Brooklyn
Navy Yard Cogeneration Facility in New York; Santee
Cooper, Winyah Synfuel Project in South Carolina;
and Griffith Energy Facility in Arizona.
Associated Electric Cooperative Inc. is owned by and
provides wholesale power to six regional and 51
local electric cooperative systems in Missouri,
northeast Oklahoma and southeast Iowa that serve
more than 800,000 customers. AECI is a Touchstone
Energy Cooperative.
